Paris: For much of her Pre-Fall presentation, Stella McCartney stuck to what she does best: precisely cut, innovative suiting. By now, McCartney’s jackets are legendary, their elongated bodies both flattering and versatile, and she provided many of them in grey tweed as well as monochrome printed brocade. The innovations came by way of slightly wacky repeat graphics, a tapered cashmere onesie with patch pockets and a bold emerald buffalo plaid worked into a classic trench. Two vibrant matched sets stood out as well, emblazoned with a floral design that looked especially Middle Eastern on a long silk tunic paired with slim trousers. Without sticking to a single theme, McCartney concentrated on broadening the scope of her greatest hits with whimsical updates, a welcome strategy for her many stockists.—Nina Stotler
