Stella McCartney

RELAX & UNWIND
Paris: Stella McCartney followed two paths during the course of her F/W 13 show, opening on the type of pinstriped creative suiting she is known for before moving into relaxed knitwear and evening looks. Each group was approachable and realistic, ranging from wrapped felted wool jackets and coats embellished with a touch of pleated or flared femininity, to elongated easy-fit sweater dresses patched with lace. Sport, a common theme for McCartney, came into play as well, this time as tonal utilitarian jogging suits and sleek brimmed caps, while the chunky, lug-soled footwear worn throughout had an industrial, factory-floor vibe. Evening pieces were just as loosened up, and though washed silk sack dresses with elastic banding looked versatile and comfortable, it was the embroidered jacquard tunic over trouser combos which truly broke new red-carpet ground. —Nina Stotler
