WGSN culture trip: Zeitz Museum Of Contemporary Art Africa
Jan 14, 2018 | By Georgie Hyatt
Mixing fashion and architecture, the newly opened The Exchange hotel in Amsterdam is a collaboration between Otto Nan, Suzanne Oxenaar and select students from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. Dressing ‘rooms as models’ each of the 61 rooms are individually styled, with themes as varied as denim jackets, wallflowers, forgotten cardboard boxes and Frida Khalo’s wardrobe. The hotel’s communal spaces are accessorized with various fashion props including a 20 meter long illuminated necklace and endless rows of striped socks, with transparent panels allowing hotel guests to peer between floors. Housing a restaurant- Stock! and a contemporary design concept store- Options, The Exchange is an innovative design project, as well as pioneering hotel concept well worth a visit. – Anna Jacobsen
