Paris…Viktor & Rolf

With Greek statues as the backdrop, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren sustained a theatrical feeling similar to the one crafted for their spring collection video performance. The sensation of animated statues came to life for F/W 09, with white painted faces setting the mythic context. Dramatic draping on copper-toned jersey dresses were reminiscent of goddess styles that would have been worn to perform ancient Greek tragedies. A high-waisted color-blocked silk crepe column skirt featured exaggerated folds and gathers and was styled with an elongated blouse featuring a tonal segmented effect. Diamond reliefs were sculpted on a grey leather trench through a dimensional patchwork of geometric shapes. A similar pieced treatment came together on a long-sleeved gauze dress trimmed in silk.
