Acne – S/S 2012

MOROCCAN MODERNITY
London: A trip to Morocco was the launching point for Acne designer Jonny Johansson, but the result was a much more subtle level of inspiration than what was to be expected. While Marrakesh references were certainly detectable in the long sweeping caftans, spice-market hues of yellow and orange and the playfully slouchy culottes, there were other influences coming into play, namely a distinctly sporty feeling evoked through racing tape, baseball caps and tough, colorblocked leather pieces. Acidic greens, electric teals and shiny sections of sparkly PVC mixed in with stiff black leather pieces added a playful pop that Acne’s devoted fans around the world have come to expect.  —Shannon Davenport
