We headed over to The Frye Company showroom yesterday to get a sneak peek at some of the S/S 12 product slated to hit the trade show circuit in the next few months. As expected, the room was filled with tons of heritage product updated in beautiful washed leathers. The colors were rich and a bit unexpected — with punchy blues, purple and aqua adding to the overall collection of tanned and burnished cognac leathers. Some of our favorites included the women’s collection of canvas and leather safari-esque boots and platform wedge sandals, some with intricately hand-woven and braided details. For men, huarache deck shoes and this season’s must-have wallabee rounded out a tightly edited spring assortment, complementing everyone’s favorite sturdy workwear and engineer boots synonymous with the 147-year old company’s DNA. We hear The Frye Company is scheduled to open a 6,000 square-foot outpost in NYC’s Soho district later this summer.
