Milan: Inspired by the 1967 film The Young Girls of Rochefort, the S/S 2011 Sportmax collection was a Mod mix of boxy shapes and Pop colors. Activewear elements were incorporated, as well; among them were zipper closures, water resistant materials, and tennis-inspired looks. Silhouettes were spot-on; shift dresses, muscle sleeves, and a-line skirts were consistent with what we’ve seen this runway season. Looks that partnered crop-tops with high-waisted pencil skirts also felt right. Butterfly embellishments and energetic neon stripes captured the cheery theatrical style of the film that inspired them. The outerwear offerings, which consisted of bright rain slickers and a modish take on the trench, were both playful and practical. Even though many of the looks were striking, most were very wearable. The fun sporty wears are sure to please the Sportmax customer.
