Sonia Rykiel is known for her fun and energetic runway presentations, often featuring sparkly confetti, dance music and exuberant, smiling models. Staged in her Boulevard Saint-Germain shop for S/S 10, Rykiel’s presentation touched on many of her familiar themes, like flirtatious short satin dresses and suits, defined at the waist with wide transparent belts, or her cheeky boudoir looks built around exposed bra tops, loose pajamas and cutout blouses with placed flower motifs. Current, on-trend must-haves popped up too, updating Rykiel’s signature style, such as knit bike shorts, the use of bright orange-red and strong shoulders — all of these elements working together to create a modern interpretation of the comfortable-with-herself, très-girly Parisian.
