Opened in October 2016, Soho House Barcelona is one of the company’s latest outposts, based in the beautiful Gothic Quarter of the city, in a 19th century building overlooking the Port Vell marina. Boasting 57 bedrooms, club spaces, a roof terrace and pool, as well as the Cowshed spa and gym, the house is the ultimate stay in the city for design-conscious creatives and business travellers, where you’re bound to rub shoulders with other trendy individuals.
City by City Editor Emily Cater went to check it out, and here’s three reasons she loved it:
Where: Soho House Barcelona, Plaça del Duc de Medinaceli / 34 932 204600
1. The Cowshed Spa
Undoubtedly one of the club’s key highlights is the luxurious Cowshed Spa, located on the lower lobby and available to both members and non-members. Designed to look like a traditional Spanish pharmacy, the space features four treatment rooms, four mani/pedi stations and an indoor heated pool. There’s also a Cowshed gym with facilities including a studio for classes, spinning room, steam room, and a juice bar.
We tested the signature Cowshed facial which included a cleanse, steam, exfoliation and extraction as well as a neck and shoulder massage – absolute bliss, leaving our skin with a healthy glow.
2. The Design
The interiors of the latest Soho House are inspired by Catalan design, featuring gothic architectural influences and rustic, warm, Mediterranean colours and traditional textiles. The bedroom bathrooms feature beautiful local tiles and vintage bronze fittings, while furnishings comprise a mix of mid-century European pieces with local antiques and custom-made designs from the Soho House team. The bathrooms also feature a huge array of Cowshed toiletries, making it possible to travel without any at all, as absolutely everything is covered.
3. The rooftop pool space & club
Situated on the 5th floor, guests and members will find the club and lounge space – the perfect spot in which to eat, drink, socialise and work. The space features a lounge area, bar with outdoor seating, and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, utilising locally sourced ingredients. Our favourite dish? The healthy fresh fish Poke bowls, for a light and delicious lunch. Just upstairs, find the rooftop space with outdoor heated pool and daybeds – the perfect space in which to crash out in the day, cocktail in hand.
