There’s dressing for winter weather and then there is trying to look chic as you step into an ice puddle or slide along on black ice.
This New York Fashion Week just getting dressed to see the shows is a battle, you need more than just a hat and a scarf to protect you from the sub zero conditions and pelting snow. But this is New York right? And style is in the fabric of the city. So, of course the street style looks were on point, from the models to the editors, people were dressed and ready for action.
Activewear came into its own, with hooded sweaters and logo print hats (and even sneakers complete with cold ankle bravery). For outerwear, we saw: this season’s ubiquitous bomber jackets, as well as wool camel coats and even an appearance from the H&M and Kenzo collaboration. Boots were key from urban street boots (think rough and tumble combat boots and motorcycle silhouettes) as well as long boots in a biker style. And even though it’s winter there’s no dearth of colour, little pops of bright orange and red were blazing through, maybe in an attempt to remember what warm weather and heat feels like?
