Long, lush ponytails, it’s a classic hairstyle that flatters anyone and the elegant look pulls the hair from the face for an instant face lift.
At Jason Wu’s SS14 show at Mercedes-Benz fashion week in New York, lead Kérastase hair artist Odile Gilbert worked her tress magic by prepping the models’ damp hair with Fibre Architecte and blow dry. Then, Gilbert applied Gloss Appeal and flat ironed the hair in sections. Her looks on several runways at New York fashion week have been anchored with a generous part and we saw it again at Jason Wu: a middle part was created before the hair was pulled back to create a deep and elegant-looking divide in the hair and then was secured with a ponytail at the back of the head.
For a dramatic runway look, extensions were added to achieve a longer length and wrapped around the ponytail before securing a gold barrette clip over the elastic. Short Mania was added on the hair at the top of the head to keep it smooth and sleek.
To finish: Gilbert sprayed a generous amount of Laque Couture throughout to keep the style controlled and in place.
It’s the ponytail we dream of creating off the runway and wearing to the office.
