The 2010 NBA All-Star Game took place on Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the Dallas Cowboys New Stadium in Arlington — The Dallas Mavericks served as host for the event — The coach for the Western Conference team was Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl and the coach for the Eastern Conference team was Orlando Magic head coach Stan Van Gundy.
Players chosen by ballot to represent each conference included some of the heaviest hitters in the NBA… for the Eastern Conference team LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers topped the All-Star Ballots with 2,549,693 votes, which earned him a starting position, followed by Allen Iverson, who retired briefly before returning to play for the Philadelphia 76ers, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Garnett and Dwight Howard (These five starters also started in previous year’s Eastern Conference team).
The Western Conference favorite went to LA’s sweetheart Kobe Bryant with 2,456,224 votes. Two-time MVP Steve Nash, Carmelo Anthony, Tim Duncan and Amar’e Stoudemire completed the Western Conference starting team.
This year, Skullcandy headphones (typically associated with the Action sports circuit) created one-of-a-kind headphones for each of the top seeded players in the game. The headphones, based on the upcoming Mix Master Mike headphone collaboration they are releasing, added an unexpected element to the event, as players were able to rep their respected teams in style.
