It seems that no matter where you were this past weekend, something was happening in the skate world. Luckily, we had eyes and ears around the US to take in all of the action.
Out in Ocean City the Dew Tour wrapped up with the Pantech Beach Championship. Pedro Barros took home the title for the second year in a row, while 12 year-old Tom Schaar won in three events over the course of the weekend and is still the only skateboarder to sucessfully land the 1080.
Another back-to-back winner of the weekend was Joey Brezinski at Manny Mania down at Coleman skatepark in New York. Under the Manhattan Bridge a crowd of more than 1,000 skateboarders and fans gathered to watch the contest.
On the opposite side of New York Converse kicked off the weekend on the Hudson River at Pier 62 Skatepark. With a skateboarding demonstration on Friday, then a free concert on Saturday headlined by The Kills, it was an event not to be missed. Converse skate ambassadors Kenny Anderson, Nick Trapasso and the entire Converse skateboarding team were there soaking up the sun and tearing up the park. – Erin Mintun
