TRANSPARENCY VS. OPACITY
London: Simone Rocha is part of the group of exciting young London designers that has been demanding international attention this week. In her accomplished fifth collection, Rocha played with the concepts of transparency and opacity. The show opened with a series of sweet eyelet separates in pure white. Sheer and opaque coexisted for textural garments with revealing lace panels. On the purely opaque end of the spectrum were glossy leathers, nubby tweeds, and crisp cotton shirtings. The mostly-neutral offering received a needed hit of color from two neon chartreuse ensembles and the poppy-colored final look. –Joanna Manganaro
