Vivienne Westwood has broadened its territory to food and beverage in the K11 Art Mall in Shanghai by opening a cafe full of the brand’s DNA and personality. Located inside the shop, the cafe is divided into two areas – an 18th century tearoom, and a shooting studio concept. Visitors can either sit in the modern “studio” area against a suspended white Corian wall, or in the British heritage tearoom. Here, the designer’s love of The Wallace Collection is projected on a wall which is entirely covered with wallpaper inspired by the museum’s interiors. A crystal chandelier feature helps create a Trompe l’oeil effect, which the designer has often favoured in her designs, while the Vivienne Westwood Ord, as well as her signature tartan elements are used in the tea sets and tins. The store in K11 Mall is by far the largest in China with the designer’s Red Label, Gold Label, Man, and Anglomania collections stocked. Besides the cafe, a beauty salon is also located in-store to provide visitors with luxury pampering. –Maria Mao Cui
