For Shanghai Fashion Week’s Labelhood presentations this year’s theme focused on GEN [E] –SHIP a blend of the words: generation, gene, genius – and the relationship between the three. Inspired by Gen Z, the show celebrates this generation’s passionate attitudes towards fashion, art, music. Representing a generation like no other in modern China, Labelhood brought youthful energy together for their A/W 17/18 presentations. WGSN’s Jennifer Zhang reports:
A total of 17 emerging designers showed at Labelhood including SHUSHU/TONG, YINGPEI STUDIO, XU ZHI, Museum of Friendship, YIRANTIAN and FFIXXED STUDIOS. Continuing on from S/S 17, a GQ China sponsored menswear day continuing to be a key part of the presentations. Brands included Hiuman, PRONOUNCE, and XIMON LEE.
The highlight for Labelhood’s A/W 17/18 was this year’s live house concerts. For three evenings shows became Gen Z style events. Fashion presentations were held as after parties paired with live music. On social media, artist Chen Tianzuo’s ASIANDOPEBOYS brand evening was a hot topic online. Musical performances for the event included Zebra Katz, Tzusing, Justin Shoulder and Ylva Falk.
