Bottega Veneta, the legendary luxury label, has recently opened its latest thought-provoking exhibition of contemporary Chinese art. Located in the label’s largest boutique in China, the Yifeng Galleria store on the historic Bund in Shanghai, Bottega Veneta’s second floor, permanent exhibition space showcases work by up-and-coming Chinese artists and photographers. The fifth thematic exhibition to be held by the gallery, ‘Solo Exhibition by Birdhead’ is dedicated to photographic work by artists Song Tao and Ji Weiyu who comprise Birdhead. Tomas Maier, Bottega Veneta’s Creative Director says of the exhibition: “This is a thought-provoking exhibition that not only shows the power and appeal of photography, but also subtly examines the role of craftsmanship in relation to their work. We’re very pleased with how this exhibition space has allowed us to give back to the community while simultaneously engaging customers in a novel way and I’m hopeful this latest show will be as well received as the previous exhibitions.” Birdhead’s latest works focus on representations of gritty everyday reality in Shanghai and the exhibition runs through March.-Babette Radclyffe-Thomas
