Currently the PLATEAU gallery in Seoul is hosting Korea’s first ever retrospective of an internationally renowned pop artist. Takashi in Superflat Wonderland, is Murakami’s first exhibition in Korea and showcases a broad review of his work from early pieces to recent paintings. Renowned for his pop art stance using the superflat theory, which combines Japanese traditional culture with contemporary street culture, Murakami rose to international acclaim for his quirky collaborations with Louis Vuitton. Around 30 works are on show using a diverse selection of art forms including balloons, painting, photography, sculpture and video art, and the exhibition runs through 8 December 2013. –Babette Radclyffe-Thomas
