As a major event in the Asian catwalk calendar,  Seoul Fashion Week once again becomes the focal point of industry professionals looking for the freshest trends of this fast emerging Asian market. This year, the A/W 15/16 season takes place in Dongdaemun Design Plaza and starts from March 20 to 25. RED MANGO & CACAO GREEN

Korea does shaved ice right and this place, nestled on a third floor overlooking the bustling Myeongdong, combines ice with a range of chocolate flavours in huge portions ideal for sharing.

JEONJU JUNGANG HOEGAWAN

Neighbourhood:  Jung-Gu

A must-try in Bukchang-dong, one of the top dining districts in Seoul next to the expensive Myeongdong. Thick slices of pork belly are grilled on stone trays to reduce smoke and eaten wrapped in lettuce or perilla leaves. Beef is more expensive but worth trying as well.

Specialities of this traditional restaurant include Kalguksu, the handmade, knife-cut wheat flour noodle dishes, as well as dumplings and bean flour noodles in cold chicken soup.

LOBSTER BAR

A star addition to Itaewon’s dining landscape, this small cafe serves 3 varieties of lobster sandwich and a whole lobster steamed or grilled, along with a delightful menu of fruit drinks.

If you fancy Korean food with a western twist, this is the place to go. Fusion pancakes, pizzas, Korean noodles and tacos are favourite choices here. Grape makgeolli (an alcoholic beverage in Korea) shake is a must-try.

Named in the “2015 Michelin Guide”, this bibimbap (steamed rice stirred with vegetables and beef ) place boasts the spokesperson of traditional Korean dishes.

This 2-storey coffee shop stands out in the hip Sinsa-dong area with a rusty exterior almost like an abandoned factory. Sitting down for a pumpkin, blueberry or cream cupcake over a cup of milk coffee is one of the delights after a long stroll in Sinsa-dong.
