Published by Black Spring Press in November 2012, London’s Beyond Retro recently hosted a book signing of “Seamless from Biba: A Life in Design” with none other than Miss BIBA herself, one Barbara Hulanicki, at their Dalston location, celebrating the iconic fashion and universe of this ’70s-era design luminary and her long and varied career ever since, which has transcended fashion to encompass interior design, costumes, print design and more.  The lavishly illustrated book includes generous pictorial imagery of her textiles, store interiors, editorial images, and more, and serves as a veritable “Bible of BIBA” for diehard fans or those looking to see more of her work beyond the Art Deco-inspired label that has become so coveted by vintage fans today. Below, a small sampling of images from the event itself and a peek inside the book.

  • I still have two original BIBA posters from my college days in the 1970s and they now proudly hang in my atelier. What an incredible time it was!
