Originally launched as Scotch in 1985, the Amsterdam based Scotch & Soda has become a perennial favorite among locals and foreign fashion followers alike since its revival in 2000.
From sophisticated tweed blazers and finely tailored trousers to comfy cotton t-shirts and handsomely rugged jeans, their easy-to-wear pieces flawlessly fuse vintage inspiration with contemporary design.
The store in the Huidenstraat was designed as a concept store with the idea being to present only one piece of each garment from the men’s (Scotch & Soda) and women’s (Maison Scotch) collections.
Located in the popular “nine streets” area the comfortable, loft-like space juxtaposes exposed brick with soft white walls and dark wood panels.
Find antique displays thoughtfully curated throughout the store that mirror their fusion focused design philosophy.
In an effort to promote this concept store and the recently launched Maison Scotch a handwritten love letter – red ribbon and all – was attached to bicycles around Amsterdam.
Hopeless romantics who called (or texted) the phone number on the note and followed the request, “Just come to Huidenstraat 3-5 and ask for M,” received a Scotch & Soda goodie bag.
