Scotch and Soda: Amsterdam’s Blauw

We’ve just heard that Dutch brand, Scotch and Soda opened a brand new store in their hometown and famed denim city, Amsterdam.

Amsterdams Blauw® is the new denim collection by Scotch & Soda and is named after the color of paint used to decorate Dutch porcelain in the Golden Century. The striking blue color was obtained by mixing indigo from China and Japan with an oil-based paint, and is still widely visible in houses and street signs in the brand’s hometown.  Blauw® is a young denim project that draws inspiration from American and Japanese denim aesthetics, adding its own fresh twist. After successfully launching the first Men’s denim collection for S/S 11, Scotch & Soda now also holds Amsterdams Blauw® collections for Women and Children.

The new store is located at the Berenstraat in the Jordaan area where Amsterdam’s Blauw was born and raised, so it was an easy choice to establish the first denim store here. It’s not just a shop, but something like a denim-deli, where you escape the hectic shopping experience and take it slow. It’s a place to drop by, relax, enjoy a good coffee, have a chat and immerse yourself in beautiful products.

Scotch & Soda currently holds over 30 own retail stores worldwide, over 7,000 other sales points, and a fast-growing online store. We also love their S/S 11 video below:
