Schoolgirl Nostalgia at Orla Kiely

London: Nostalgic and never without a sense of humour – Orla Kiely presented her collection inside the set of a mid-century modern library, signage demanding “Silence” from the audience. Kiely’s girls looked studious in a line up of girly, seventies inspired silhouettes in a muted colour palette referencing heritage fabrics and geometric prints. A-line mini skirts were the stuff of schoolgirl dreams, paired with chunky colour blocked sweaters, one with a pattern inspired by graph paper. Elsewhere in the collection – a geometric printed set worn over the seasons obligatory polo put a twist on the normcore vibe, whilst a pop of sunshine yellow refreshed the palette in short pile mohair coats and matching sets. Preppy, humorous and incredibly chic. –Anna Ross
