Saving The Scapulars


Another treasure from The Antique Elegance Show in Dallas, Texas was a group of turn-of-the-century scapulars from Bette Rossen. These antique scapulars were sacramental objects worn by devote Catholics, and were typically worn close to the chest and created by the wearer. These particular examples show incredible hand work and a collage affect of photographs, antique paper ephemera, embroidery and embellishments. They were found at a South West antique show, and an even more impressive group was supposedly snatched up by a buyer for Ralph Lauren. Perhaps, scapualrs will be walking down the runway in the near future as a pin or embellishment…
