FIT FOR AN HEIRESS
New York: The house of Salvatore Ferragamo has been in the news of late due to its recent IPO on the Milan stock exchange, which generated over $2 billion. Its lavish Resort show seemed of a piece with this new, flashier Ferragamo. It was held in the James B. Duke mansion on Fifth Avenue, facing Central Park, and stars including Eva Mendes, Freida Pinto and Emma Roberts were among the attendees. The gilded mansion had been home to heiress and philanthropist Doris Duke, and her heyday, the 1930s, was a key inspiration for the looks. Slinky evening dresses, Provençal cotton striped pieces and luxe pajama sets were among the glamorous looks that Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti sent down the runway, and silvery beaded fringe and sequins added a touch of sparkle. The looks oozed elegance and sophistication, perfectly complementing their sumptuous surroundings. –Joanna Manganaro
