Milan: In comparison to Massimiliano Giornetti’s bold experiment with stark houndstooth last Fall, his latest work moved in a warm and demure direction, though one still built upon pattern and texture. Deep cranberry and plum added sophistication to coy pleated miniskirts paired with slim cardigans, while argyle and plaid looked rich embroidered with crocodile panels. Skins played an essential part throughout, whether ingeniously combined with ribbed knits, as tonal trim on a suede minidress, or as the material of choice for structured make up case bags and thick belts. Although most of the ensembles were on the sweet side, a touch of drama appeared via checked cape coats, velvet tux jackets and feather embellished wide brim hats. —Nina Stotler
