New York: As New York Fashion Week kicks into gear, swimwear is off to a hot start. Sticking with the current women’s trends, waistlines on suits inched up to demure silhouettes. Rachel Comey modernized retro-flavored maillots with innovative photorealistic textile prints. Meanwhile, vintage purveyors What Goes Around Comes Around opted for a little flash and sex appeal with plunge suits in wet-look tricot.
Styling looks to be going beyond the simple cover up, with swimwear worked into everyday ensembles to evoke beachside living. Our favorite looks so far embrace a “playful prep” attitude that mixes the elegance of Jackie O with the youthful sass of 60s Gidget.
