Runway Update: La Dolce Vita

Mod invaded Milan over the weekend, delivering a graphic punch to swimwear and intimates. Suspendered suits from Etro, Dolce & Gabbana and Frankie Morello channeled Rudi Gernreich’s iconic topless monokini. Over at Marni, signature geos perfectly complemented the angular lines of plunge bodysuits, and Antonio Marras updated retro bikinis with architectural straps.

As usual, Dolce & Gabbana’s collection was full of lingerie inspiration, with a playful pinup girl mood taking over that was more Gidget than their usual Sophia Loren. Major labels like Bottega Veneta, Versace and Missoni followed suit, enlivening sophisticated pieces with exuberant prints and edgy embellishments.
