Runway Update: Belle de Jour

L to R: Gabrielle Griess, Louis Vuitton, Agnes B, Shiatzy Chen, Christophe Lemaire

The housewife-with-a-naughty-secret theme a la Belle de Jour was a continuous thread throughout all of the S/S 2012 season, which left ample opportunity for lingerie to shine. Fashion month ended on a high note in Paris with the unveiling of collections from Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton. The latter, in particular, featured ladylike matched sets with high-waisted hot pants, as well as lingerie-pretty touches of broderie anglaise.

Shiatzy Chen also bared all with Marilyn Monroe-esque rompers and robes, while Agnes B brought a demure touch to string bikinis with a chiffon blouse cover up. One of the designers to watch Gabrielle Griess featured floaty slips and frocks for innerwear or outerwear. And for nightwear, Christophe Lemaire tapped into the pajama craze with satin Chinese-inspired versions.
