Blue-and-white ticking, that humble striped canvas or denim used for mattress coverings and railway men’s caps, is having a moment. This historic fabric (11th century records show that Italian ticking was made with a linen warp and a cotton weft) offers a rugged yet romantic appeal, making it appropriate for both workwear silhouettes and hyper-feminine shapes like corsets, pencil skirts and hourglass jackets.
