One of the Active Team’s favorite things to do is check out new product…so when ROXY extended an invite to see its Spring/Summer 2012 collection in New York City, we jumped at the chance for a sighting of fresh goods.
The Spring/Summer 2012 line speaks to the quintessential surfer girl that has a bit more edge. Basics, like cute boardshorts move forward with more embellishment including side cutouts and updated tribal prints. We also especially liked the “Baja” themed section from the line with classic hallmarks like woven striped pull over hoodies and cover-ups. And of course, we were beyond thrilled to see Cynthia Rowley’s influence for wetsuits, as the collaboration between the two brands continues for yet another season.

What made the experience that much more exciting was that we got the opportunity to sit down with one of ROXY’s top female surfers, Rosy Hodge, to talk shop about her top picks of the season, and what she thinks will be “trending” for the ladies.
It was so incredible to have some time with her, as she was literally just about to jet-off on a plane to surf with the rest of ROXY girl’s team…get this -> with only the clothes on her body! Rosy calmly explained to us, “I’m not worried, the other girls will lend me their clothes. We all share!”
Hailing from East London, South Africa, some of her favorite breaks are located in Queensberry Bay, South Africa, “Off the Wall” in Hawaii and Biarritz in the South of France. She has always considered herself a true tomboy, but is equally enthused about putting on a cute dress or sexy bikini. Sounds like something we can relate to for sure.
Here are Rosy’s top-picks of the Season:
This striped bikini top and neoprene shorties were ideal for her due to the the cut…”they’ll stay put and won’t ride up when I’m surfing.”

The Cynthia Rowley wetsuit is an absolute MUST, after surfing in its previous version from last season.
These Skinny Floods jeans in a tan and crème tribal print are something she plans on wearing…”everyday”
Thanks to ROXY and Rosy for a much needed dose of sunshine and surfing during the very beginning stages of winter here in NYC. – Jessica Kaplan
