Since we are the “non-fashion” types in the office, we rarely get excited over apparel that doesn’t perform with or for the body…. well, that all changed today when we received an email from Opening Ceremony reminding us that the Mulleavy sisters released another sweatshirt made exclusively for Opening Ceremony. Now, you may ask yourselves what makes this basic item so incredibly special? Well for one, anything that Rodarte creates tends to leave in a state of awe, so when they design a wearable piece that embodies youth, comfort and accessability it is basically a recipe for success.
The second reason we are in love (other then the clever adaptation of the word rad) is also quite simple… it’s almost impossible to find a brand new knit item that is worn in like a vintage tee. The closest thing we found that fits the bill are the American Apparel unisex Tri-Blend (50% Polyester / 25% Cotton / 25% Rayon) tees and sweatshirts. They are so simple that they can be worn with anything, cut just right and totally comfortable. That translates to ultimate wearabilty for both genders. The trend pendulam is swinging towards basics that can be layered or worn with high and low looks. Crewnecks and hoodies are on the top of that list right now.
