This season, Roberto Cavalli eschewed his signature sexy silhouettes for shapes that floated away from the body. Layering dresses over pants, Cavalli’s girl seemed to want it all at once — delicate dresses in sweet floral prints and expertly tailored separates.
Button-up shirts in pale shades also added a menswear touch to the looks. Trousers, though not typically a Cavalli specialty, displayed the perfect balance between sleek and slouchy; in addition to suiting pieces, some pants were printed and embroidered, others were in sheer chiffon. The show ended with a series of simple pinky-grey dresses with sashes of flowers. All the romance made this collection a major departure for Cavalli, and it will be a notable one in his archives.
