Another day another Rihanna fashion moment, this time around Rihanna teams up with designer Manolo Blahnik for a limited edition 6-piece shoe collaboration that indeed embraces the term “show stopper”.
Rihanna loves denim, the stylish singer incorporates denim not only for magazine editorials, campaigns but in her everyday lifestyle too. Who can forget the denim-clad spread she did last year for i-D’s pre-spring 2015 music issue, the Spring 2014 Balmain campaign, and her 2011 music video “We Found Love” in which she prances around in Jeremy Scott’s Spring 2012 denim pieces. At this point it clear the singer is expanding her fashion repertoire and this denim shoe collaboration with Manolo Blanhik should come as no surprise, well, surprise! it’s here.
Less than a month after debuting her first Fenty x Puma collection at New York Fashion Week, Rihanna unveiled the capsule collection named “Denim Desserts” which includes four shoe styles that will retail for $767 to $2,458. The Collection includes a thigh-high boot with a belt, a bootie, a mule, and a strappy sandal. The collection is set to go on sale May 5th 2016.
Rihanna explains her enthusiasm for the collection saying: “The day I see a woman in the street wearing my shoes… I am sorry for that woman because I’m going to literally run after her, shouting, ‘Stop! Selfie! Who are you? Where did you get them?’ I’m going to have a moment!”
Manolo explains about working with Riri: “This is an incredibly exciting collaboration and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Working with Rihanna has been amazing and her drive, passion, creativity and style has been reflected in the designs, with fabulous results – I think everyone is going to love what they are about to see.”
The collection is inspired by the singer’s hand tattoos and each unique shoe is artfully fashioned with denim, sequins and/or artisan embroidery.
