New York: After a spring season full of laid back surfers, Richard Chai turned to a more refined man for F/W 11, while keeping that idiosyncratic ease for which he’s known. “Pajama chic” is how the designer described it after the show, and with long johns layered under shorts and piped PJ tops worn with fine-gauge cardigans, it was one of the coziest offerings of the week. Chai’s adroitness at subtle luxury, muted colors and proportion play made for desirable clothes that communicated a relaxed elegance.
