Reality-competition show, Fashion Star heads into its third week on Tuesday night, pitting design hopefuls against each other to duke it out for the approval of not only a celebrity-laced panel of judges, but also heavy-hitting industry buyers. These merchants aren’t just for show though; the program’s key point of differentiation is its partnerships with Saks, Macy’s and H&M. Winning contestant designs head directly to retail floors and are made available online within hours of each episode’s dramatic conclusion. So far, participating retailers report strong sell-throughs of the show’s merchandise, both online and in stores during the 24 hours following each episode’s airing.
