You can always count on Y-3 to be one of the most delightful collections during New York Fashion Week. For F/W 09, Yohji Yamamoto took down the active dial a few notches to present us with a collection full of easily layered and understandable clothes. A few exits had obvious connotations of military trims, albeit done in a more stylish and futuristic way than what is actually seen on the front lines. The high-top sneakers, always a dependable staple of Yohji, were army-boot in appearance. The puffers and parkas were bold or shiny, coming across as the ultimate layer of a high-end, luxurious cocoon. Stripes, as usual, were the trim of choice, outlining cardigans, outerwear, hats, shoes and everything in between.
