Comme des Garcons decided to step up their groundbreaking guerrilla marketing with the ‘Trading Museum’ concept store in Omotesando, Toyko. With the pop-up trend gaining ground, Rei Kawakubo took the museum format and dutifully combined it with a more established Comme des Garcons retail platform. In the cabinet-filled space (the eight display cabinets are on loan from the Victoria & Albert Museum in London) customers have the unique opportunity to browse some of the brand’s most coveted items. There are also pieces from British designer Christopher Nemeth, shoes from Daita Kimura, and a series of vintage hats by Stephen Jones.
