Red Bull’s Manny Mania World Amateur Finals landed at Chinatown’s Coleman Skate Park, beneath the Manhattan Bridge, this past Saturday. Stylesight was on hand to watch 32 amateur skaters from around the world, each his country’s Manny Mania Champion, bust their best manual tricks (a manual is like a wheelie for those who don’t know) and vie for a chance to compete against the pros in Sunday’s final.
New York City pro skaters Jefferson Pang and Felix Arguelles manned the microphones, along with DQM impresario Dave Ortiz, for what was most definitely a NYC thing. At the end of the day Saturday, Youness Amrani of Belgium beat out the other ams for top honors. Unfortunately, he didn’t get to put his skills up against the pros because Sunday’s Manny Mania Pro Final was rained out.
In addition to the super technical skating that went down on the course, Stylesight enjoyed seeing all the city kids swarm the park to don their best gear, watch the action, and, yes, even skate.
