We recently discovered a relatively new denim site, RAWR DENIM; an information resource dedicated to the raw denim enthusiasts who are passionate and highly engaged in the raw denim scene.
Based in Canada, Rawr Denim is run by a team of denim heads and dedicated purely to men’s raw denim. As the story goes, they were fed up of searching myriad blogs, forums, company websites for the info they needed and wanted, and decided to take matters into their own hands. Thus, they embarked on a simple mission – to create the most user-friendly and comprehensive resource for men’s raw denim – that will benefit anyone interested in the subject regardless of your background.
As well as the informative news on latest happenings in the world of raw denim, the site also features a ‘Fade Friday’ special; a weekly report documenting and evaluating the turmoil endured on a pair of jeans from their raw state. The feature represents the gold-standard for unwashed denim and symbolizes the beginning of the highly individual journey from moment a pristine pair is taken home to the pleasure of sliding into a uniquely worn-in favorite months or even years later. With a focus on the fades and the wear patterns achieved the feature shows before and after shots detailing length of wear, number of soaks/washes, weight, type of denim as well basic specifications of the pant.
Rawr Denim often uses the term “Holy Grail” to refer to pairs of jeans it perceives as having character or fades above and beyond the realm of an average pair. Achieving the label of “Grail” is not a feat to be taken lightly; these denim-heads take very particular care of whose and which jeans they feature.
