NEW YORK… David Neville and Marcus Wainwright’s label Rag & Bone has long been a favorite of style adept celebrities like Kate Bosworth, who have been won over by their edgy classics like cropped tux jackets and slim pants. This season the pair had even more reason to celebrate their New York show, which coincides with the opening of their first stand-alone store on Christopher Street. The S/S 09 production was staged inside an industrial wing of Pier 94 just off the West Side Highway, the distress of the raw space providing a perfect backdrop for punky styles. Although English subcultures have been a point of reference for many designers over the years, Rag & Bone managed to incorporate details like zippers, studs and suspenders without appearing dated or literal. Juniors-friendly key pieces like leather vests, denim minis and body-con dresses will be a hit next season.
