Paris: For Raf Simons’ 15th anniversary, the designer revisited some of his innovations over the years, showing many of the looks that helped spark the menswear revolution that designers like Simons have contributed to, while also paying homage to Martin Margiela, an early influence. Lean tailored jackets were paired with extreme baggy pants, and sleeves were cut off for a streamlined effect. An intriguing industrial element was introduced into the collection via exaggerated zippers, some with contrasting extended pulls, used on many of the jackets and shirts. Boxy tees were cut from wovens, sheer knits or supple leather. The designer’s sure-handed approach showed how clean, minimalist design could look forward yet be wearable, timelessly classic and vibrantly young.
