Rad Hourani Couture Fall/Winter 2012

GENDER NEUTRAL

Paris: Rad Hourani has become a favorite of edgy downtown types since he debuted his label just a few years ago. He has always focused on unisex clothing, but this approach seemed especially timely, as Miuccia Prada recently presented her men’s spring and women’s resort collections on the same runway and Jean Paul Gaultier included men in his couture show this season. For his first-ever couture offering, Hourani stuck with the all-black, somewhat futuristic looks for which he is known. Multiple lapels, geometric piecing, and criss-cross self-fabric belts added interest to the otherwise spare items. Leather and satin gave them sheen and texture. While not the most technically advanced couture collection, Hourani’s looks will certainly appeal to fans of his edgy-and-dark style. –Joanna Manganaro
