LIFE’S A BEACH
New York: Elegant beach bums and those who aspire to look like them will appreciate Rachel Comey’s laid-back S/S 12 collection. Airy, tailored separates and flowy frocks featured ultra-relaxed fits while hinting at the feminine hourglass figures that lay beneath. Sack and sarong dresses doubled as swimsuit coverups, and vintage-inspired swimwear was styled into daytime ensembles. A single breton top (made new with dropped shoulder seams and a turtleneck), and a seascape print created by French artist Rosemarie Auberson, drove the show’s coastal message home. —Whitney Kessler
