Quiksilver and the new Standard hotel in New York City certainly know how to throw a good party. Industry insiders gathered at the ultra swank penthouse to kick off Quik and The Standard’s boardshort vending machine collaboration. Yes, it’s true…an actual vending machine that dispenses boardshorts and bikinis with a swipe of a credit card. Perfect for late night romps and impromptu rooftop “business” meetings. The vending machine retail strategy has been a huge trend in Japan for some time, and now it has officially hit the states.
Left to right: Downtown LA, Miami, Hollywood, NYC
Each Standard hotel property will have a specific boardshort inspired by its respected city. Downtown LA launched over the summer with Miami and Hollywood in the works for later dates. The shorts are inspired by retro boardies from the 70s and 80s, but they are totally modern in terms of fabric technology. They are made out of the innovative Diamond Dobby Material: The ultimate in in-water performance. No rash. Perfect stretch. Ultra light-weight. Quick dry. What more can you ask for?!
