The Active Team (finally) went to check out the first ever Quiksilver women’s boutique located in the luxe beach shopping destination, the Malibu Lumber Yard. As QSW raises its retail profile, it only makes sense that they find a home with other directional brands and boutiques like J.Crew Beach, James Perse and Maxfields.
The space stays true to their surf legacy with beautifully crafted surfboards, nautical rope strung across the ceiling and above all a product mix of all the beach essentials of flip flops, sunscreen and sunglasses. There is no escaping the outdoors with the earthy and organic wooden floors from an old Pennsylvania Cabin, the touches of recycled fixtures, and the beam of the Malibu sun to light the store.
Cast along the net on the back wall lies the inspirations behind the Quiksilver + Hoffman collection. Hoffman California Fabrics brought us some of the most iconic surf prints from the 1970s and soon collaborated to make the original Aloha Short for Quiksilver. Colored swatches, vintage pieces, elaborate sketches and much more provide you with history of Hoffman and the rebirth of a partnership. – Amanda Gilbert
