New York: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have the almost uncanny ability of creating clothes that appeal to the coolest of cool girls season after season. Cruise/Resort 13’s designs are sure to please the in-crowd. The collection featured just the right combination of femininity and edginess, as well as a techy side that reiterated the duo’s commitment to innovation. Utilitarian details, including flap pockets, zippers, and snaps toughened up sculpted jackets and A-line skirts. Black trim traced many of the garments’ precise lines. A pair of simple dresses seemed to have been placed in the middle of the collection as a palette cleanser before McCollough and Hernandez unleashed their covetable leather pieces. Cropped pants, a blouson jacket, and a deep purple A-line skirt were among the best examples of their leather items. The designers also showed a vest and jeans from their fledgling denim collection. Arguably the collection’s most striking look was a lime green shift made from lace with a digital, geometric pattern. Other techy fabrics included a tweed whose pattern looked like a pixilated snake motif. –Joanna Manganaro
