    While I am in complete support of providing books to communities in need, I feel that this interpretation is not very well-considered. While white Americans and possibly Europeans consider these books to be classics, I don’t see how too many Africans will relate. With all of the problems with education in third-world country, I feel that these books will be the least helpful. Why not inspiring them to become leaders with biographies and speeches given by various African leaders, past and present? Why not books on the diverse environments, sociological and natural, to teach appreciation and respect for various beliefs and the ecological lives around them?

    Honestly, it simply comes across that this was organized by priviledged white people with a narcissitic taste in literature (ie. needing to have their own thoughts and experiences read back to them.)

    As well, as a female I take huge offense at reprinting that cover of Lolita. Having read the book, I am aware that the child was not looking to be raped and kidnapped, and as such was not trying to inspire the idea in the mind of her neighbor. To have that version of the cover reprinted on a tee today only goes to show how acceptable it is to “fetishize” young girls.
