Simona Vanth turned heads with their S/S 12 collection, which was presented during Premiere Classe in Paris. Head designer Simona Citarella cited influences from the origins of mankind and the discovery of metals, as well as artisan crafts such as basket weaving and Etruscan vases. Her vision, entitled “Primitive Plastique,” was translated into strappy, raw edge sandals that sit on blocky heels and platforms, recalling primordial rock formations. Prints resembling lava flow covered wedges and molded platforms and were combined with a streamlined silhouette, creating unique and most importantly, wearable footwear. The brand brings a desirable avant-garde aesthetic to the season, and we look forward to seeing what Simona Vanth has to offer in the months to come. –Jenn Tello
