Preen plays cricket with a hip-hop attitude

London: There was a distinct vibrancy and playfulness at Preen for Spring 2015. Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi were influenced by National Geographic imagery of the Massai Cricket Warriors with their red, black and white team colors and draped, wrap skirts. Graphic Breton stripes opened the dazzling show in fluid dresses with asymmetric hemlines, folds and tucks. Midi length silk dresses were detailed in vibrant contrasting stripe trim and pops of traditional beading. There was a certain tribal appeal to this collection with reams of hand beaded fringe – wrapped at waistlines,  the hip, or around body-con mini dresses. Sportswear was also evident in bodies bound in graphic striped bandages sewn together (reminiscent of Herve Leger) to create a mini dress while jackets in solid color were trimmed with bright chunky plastic zippers. – Lizzy Bowring
